Julian’s qualifications include BSc(Eng) (Mining) with First Class Honours from the Royal School of Mines, University of London, MAppSc (Mining Geomechanics) from the University of New South Wales and MBA from the University of Queensland.
Julian has headed up the Bowen Central Coal JV since its inception in 2004. During that time he has led the evaluation and development of the Isaac Plains Mine, created the concept for development of the Belvedere deposit and managed its ubsequent evaluation by CVRD. Currently, he is responsible for the Isaac Plains operation and the evaluation of the Eagle owns deposit.
Prior to joining BCC, Julian held senior management positions for almost seven years at the Oaky Creek mining complex in central Queensland. As Technical Services Manager he was responsible for provision of technical services to all parts of the operation including the high productivity thick seam Oaky North underground mine and the open cut. Ultimately, he was the Mine Manager of the Oaky No.1 underground mine for two years during which period he was not only statutorily responsible for the operation of the mine but also successfully managed the implementation of the new longwall project.
