Aquila Resources Limited is a Perth based ASX listed company with interests in a number of substantial coal, iron ore and manganese projects within Australia and offshore. It is currently undergoing a period of significantly increased activity, which encompasses the financing and development of the West Pilbara Iron Ore Project, expansion of mining operations at the Isaac Plains Coal Mine in central Queensland, completion of a feasibility study for the Eagle Downs Hard Coking Coal Project in Queensland and ongoing exploration and evaluation of its other wholly-owned and joint venture project interests in Queensland, Western Australia and South Africa.  The Company has project management offices in Perth, Brisbane, South Africa and Indonesia.

The position

An outstanding career opportunity has become available for a highly competent Management Accountant to join the team at Aquila Resources. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will be primarily responsible for:

  • Being the direct interface with joint venture management company staff for the Company’s interest in iron ore and coal joint ventures.
  • Proactive involvement in emerging issues arising at the joint venture level.
  • Consolidating joint venture results into the results of the Aquila Group.
  • Analysing and reporting on joint venture activities.
  • Reviewing and analysing funding requests from joint venture management.
    Assisting with the financial statement audit process and regulatory / taxation reporting activities.

Qualifications and experience

The successful candidate will be CA / CPA qualified and have a minimum of five (5) years experience in the mining / resources industry in a managerial / financial accounting position.  Additionally, the successful candidate will have:

  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to provide accurate, timely and relevant information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact and build successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Advanced computer skills.

Although not essential, joint venture accounting experience will be viewed favourably.
