The Eagle Downs South Coking Coal Project ("EDS Project") is in exploration stage and is located 35km south-east of Moranbah in the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland. The EDS Project lies immediately down dip from BMA's Peak Downs mine and adjoins Aquila's jointly owned Eagle Downs Project to the north. Other projects in the region include Whitehaven's Winchester South Project, Pembroke's Olive Downs Project and Jellinbah's Lake Vermont Mine which lie on the eastern boundary of the EDS Project. The EDS Project is well serviced with supporting infrastructure with regional power lines and a water supply pipeline crossing the western portion of the tenement.
Initial exploration was carried out within Exploration Permits (EPC 795 and EPC 1077) which were acquired in 2003 and 2004 respectively. The Mineral Development Licence ("MDL") 519 application was lodged in November 2013 and was granted in July 2014.
Several drilling campaigns have been undertaken, with approximately 70 structural and coal quality holes completed, which confirmed the continuity of the Moranbah Coal Measure seams (Harrow Creek Upper, Harrow Creek Lower & Dysart seams) across the tenement and the completion of an initial JORC estimate in July 2019. A pre-concept scoping study was also finalised in December 2020, which consolidated all the existing reports and data that underpins and provides the detailed scope of the Concept study planned to be undertaken in 2021.
